The new 800+ housing development at Maltings Lane, together with business community and leisure areas is a further attraction to companies and individuals.

Started in 2002, the area offers high quality housing in a range of different styles, including a proportion of affordable homes for local people. New homes have also been built on the former Bridge Hospital site, built around the listed building which forms the entrance to the old hospital site. The close proximity of the site to the A12 provides businesses with excellent links to London and the east coast ports, and is likewise convenient for the commuter.

On behalf of local residents, Witham Town Council successfully campaigned to have some of the streets on the development named after those local soldiers who died in conflict.
