Witham
Town Council exists to serve the interests of residents within
the town. It is often the first point of call for those with
a problem or query about local government services and can
provide a link with local organisations.
The
Council is both an administrator of services, such as street
sweeping in the Town Centre and provider of Christmas Decorations.
The Council also part funds the Witham in Bloom Conservation
Group for organising the town wide competitions and awards;
and comments on all planning applications made within the
Town. The Town Council has now acquired the River Walk and
Whetmead Nature Reserve.
The Council maintains effective liaison with Braintree District
Council, Essex Police and a number of other local organisations
and agencies to provide a focus for services and activities.
The Council ensures young people have a voice through the
Youth Council and the elderly in the Town are helped through
a two days a week lunch club.
