More than forty years ago rose buds were sold in St. Peter’s
Church gardens to raise funds for the restoration of the church.
Over the years the Rose Fair has grown, and other churches and organisations
have joined in to create a truly magnificent centrepiece for the
town
each year. This is an even that is the product of co-operation and
collaboration between dozens of organisations
Around St Peter and St Paul’s Church there is also a fantastic
little market, where visitors may browse among some diverse and
interesting and gift stalls, win a teddy bear or buy fresh fruit
and flowers over four days. Adjacent is the Arts and Craft Fair,
and you are within a few yards of the town centre, with its shops
and a market on Thursday and Saturday. On Saturday there is also
a spectacular display of wondrously themed floats - each one forty
foot by ten foot and chocker block full of costumed children, and
young people, and the not so young in festive mood. Pictured are
members of Wisbech Youth Council in the Little Chapel on their float
in 2010 centred on Las Vegas. The Young People Wisbech float was
a collaboration between NACRO, Wisbech Youth Council, Centre 4,
Connexions and grant aid from Fenland District Youth Council. For
