Contact the team on 01945 461526 or email chris@theoasiscentre.co.uk. The Centre is situated in St Michaels Avenue at the north end of Tinkers Drove. It provides a diversity of training, meeting rooms and seminar facilities ranging from one-to-one sessions for literacy and numeracy to fully supported community events. It is owned and run by Wisbech Community Development Trust, which is made up of representatives from the community as well as partner organisations such as the County Council and Fenland District Council.

Community house

For more information telephone 01945 580310. Community House is in Southwell Rd, Wisbech, and has been open for 6 years. It is managed by Fenland District Council’s Community Development Team, and owned by Roddons Housing Association. Roddons have recently refurbished the house.

The House is open 8.30am to 2.30pm, when local residents can access the house for advice and information, receive help with completing forms, report housing issues and repairs, or simply call in for a coffee and a chat.

There is a computer suite upstairs that can be used free of charge and training is also provided at various times.

Wisbech Institute incorporating the Tower Ballroom
The Institute is located in Scrimshires Passage, off Hill Street, close to the town centre and Horsefair car park.

The ground floor is available for hire, and for community activity. It has a large hall with a sprung floor, numerous rooms and passageways.

It was founded by Jonathan Peckover who in 1864 had a vision of starting a community centre where people could go instead of frequenting numerous inns.

The Institute’s emblem bore the legend Labour, Learning, Love. By 1898 its membership had grown to 1200 with a lending library containing 16,000 books.
