Elgood’s is a family-owned Brewery situated on the North
Brink of the River Nene. It is a classic Georgian Brewery, built
in 1795, and is surrounded by a 4-acre garden. Both the Brewery
and the Gardens are open to the public from May to September.
The garden was redesigned in 1990 by Claire Simpson, a member of
the Elgood family, and is an inviting haven for garden-lovers. It
has been carefully designed to cater for everyone, including those
who are disabled. Mature specimen trees, planted over 250 years
ago, provide a framework within which “feature gardens”
are laid out. Visitors are able to wander round this peaceful oasis,
exploring the lake area, rockery, water garden, herb garden, lawns
and a challenging maze planted with Thuya and laurel.
A Brewery tour followed by sampling of Elgood’s Prize-winning
Beers and a stroll around the garden provides the visitor with a
unique experience.
A Garden Show & Craft Fair is held on the Second Sunday of May
and the First Sunday in September each year. Contact 01945 583160.
