Ware and its Neighbours

High Street MarketWare is a typical market town with a close community spirit flourishing amongst ancient and modern streets. It is only some 20 miles from London, yet is the gateway to open countryside and typical English villages.

The A10 road brought through traffic from London to Cambridge and when the by-pass across the Meads was opened the town was spared much of the heavy transport but, alas, the volume of traffic through the town centre has built up again. The Town Council is lobbying the relevant highway authorities via the Ware Transportation Forum to take appropriate action to improve the situation. Ware is about an hours car journey away from London and Cambridge, 30 minutes drive from Stansted Airport and the M25 junction with the A10 makes it possible to travel south of London in a short time. Ware virtually nudges Hertford (the County Town) and is a short distance away from Harlow and Stevenage whilst Welwyn Garden City and Bishop’s Stortford are also only about 10 miles away. However this guide is compiled mainly for the benefit of those wishing to know more of Ware and what it has to offer.
