Welcome to the new edition of the
Uckfield Town Guide.
The guide is published every two years and its aim is to give residents
and visitors alike as much information as possible on our vibrant
town.
As you will see from the variety of services, clubs, groups, societies
and events, Uckfield is a thriving market town which continues to
develop and expand, but still retains its great sense of community.
It has a good range of shops and a wide range of restaurants to
suit every palate. The town is located in an Area of Outstanding
Natural Beauty, contains a variety of open spaces for sports and
recreation and also has a number of nature reserves and woodland
for more passive enjoyment.
The town is proud of its heritage but also caters for modern business,
with the River Uck running through the centre of town passing by
the 15th century Bridge Cottage and the 21st century Bellbrook Business
Park. Bellbrook continues to be one of the most successful industrial
estates in the county and our monthly farmers market continues to
win awards and accolades. We are equally proud of our schools, which
have excellent reputations and are a credit to the town.
The Town Council’s ‘home’ is the Civic Centre,
just off the High Street, which also houses Luxfords Restaurant
and provides rooms for meetings, conferences, concerts, parties,
wedding receptions and almost any other event you may want to hold.
Many of our local organisations use the Civic Centre and the Town
Council works in partnership with many of these groups to help put
on the events, festivals, concerts etc. that make the town the place
that it is.
I hope you find this guide informative and of interest.
