The best place for visitors and residents alike to discover more
about the town and its heritage is in Trowbridge Museum. Just follow
the signs to the Shires Shopping Centre…
Trails cover the rich history of the town, its industrial heritage,
churches, nature and Isaac Pitman. These can be found at the Museum,
Information Centre and Town Council Office.
Trowbridge Community Sensory Garden, an award winning voluntary
run garden is behind the Town Hall and was created as a permanent
memorial of the Millenium.
Trowbridge Park…Until 1886 there had been no open space in
Trowbridge. It was in this year that the grounds of the Limes (a
large house belonging to the Hall family and on the site where the
Town Hall now is) were leased. They were bought in 1887 as the People’s
Park.
The Park is very much in the heart of the town and is the location
for many major musical and community events, including the West
Wilts Show which happens biannually. Trowbridge Park also has excellent
floodlit all weather tennis and basket ball courts, a bowling green,
miniature golf and a well-equipped children’s play area.
The Arc Theatre…A dynamic venue that is the location for many
exciting new theatre and dance productions and holds numerous productions
to appeal to family audiences too. Contact the box office on: 0845
299 0476, minicom: 01225 756364. Or check out the website: www.arctheatre.org.uk
Southwick Country Park…This is located on the southern edge
of the town and contains marked footpaths, picnic areas, a recently
planted arboretum and woods. |
