Sport and Leisure

Thetford boasts representative teams for Football, Rugby Union, Rugby League, Cricket, Hockey, Bowls, Swimming and Athletics amongst other sports. Thetford Golf Club offers one of the finest courses in East Anglia. The Breckland Leisure Centre on the Croxton Road has a wide range of facilities available to the public including swimming Kings House Gardenspools, sports halls and courts, gym and indoor bowls in addition to outdoor grass and all weather pitches. Tennis courts are available for hire in the King’s House Gardens.

The town has a wide range of restaurants including Thai, Indian, Chinese, Portuguese and Mediterranean (aboard a floating restaurant!) as well as more traditional food served in a number of other eating establishments and public houses.

The town Concert Club regularly puts on concerts in the town and during the summer the King’s House Gardens play host to a series of band concerts. The nearby High Lodge Forest Centre regularly attracts headline acts for its summer concerts.

The town has a number of hotels and guest houses and the Center Parcs Holiday Village is only 3 miles away at nearby Elveden. There are also a number of campsites in the area.

One of the most noticeable features of the town is the large amount of green space and pleasant riverside walks that are easily accessible from the town centre and are very popular with visitors to the town.
