Thatcham Neighbourhood Wardens, at
your service……
Thatcham now benefits from the presence of a dedicated team of Neighbourhood
Wardens, managed by Sovereign Housing Association with funding from
Thatcham Town Council and West Berkshire Council. Naomi Mildenhall
and Allan McIntyre are now familiar faces in the community and are
here to help improve the quality of life in the community and address
any problems residents might have in their neighbourhood.
Naomi and Allan write “We are able to offer assistance on
a wide range of issues, and if we aren’t able to deal with
the matter directly, we will assist you in finding a way forward.
Our main role as Wardens is to be a highly visible presence, patrolling
your streets and acting as a focal point for the community. We will
be dealing with all those issues which affect your quality of life,
for example:
• Helping to reduce crime, the fear of crime and anti-social
behaviour
• Dealing with environmental problems such as fly-tipping
• Reporting maintenance problems such as street lamps which
aren’t working
• Reporting neighbourhood nuisance problems such as noise
or dog fouling
• Caring for the community and developing a strong sense of
community spirit
• Maintaining contact with vulnerable residents
In summary, we act as the “eyes and ears” of the community.
Warden schemes really do work, but we can’t achieve results
alone. We will be working very closely with many partner organisation
to make your community a better place in which to live. We are not
police officers or security guards, but we care for your community
and will work with you to help develop a cleaner, safer neighbourhood.
You can contact us by phone on 01635 869842. We won’t always
be in the office so please leave a message and we’ll get back
to you as soon as we can, or you can e-mail us at thatcham.wardens@sovereign.org.uk
