Accessibility
Thatcham is three miles east of Newbury and fifteen miles west of
Reading in the Kennet Valley, on the A4 within easy reach of the
M4 motorway and A34 trunk road. This means that London, the Midlands,
Wales, the South Coast and the South-West are easily accessible.
Motorists approaching from the east should leave the M4 at Junction
12 and follow the A4 in the direction of Theale and then Newbury.
Motorists approaching from the west should leave the M4 at Junction
13 and the same instructions then apply to those approaching from
the north. Follow the A34 south then the A339 signposted “Central
Newbury and (A4) Thatcham”. At the Robin Hood roundabout take
the A4 in the direction of Reading. Motorists approaching from the
south should leave the A34 trunk road at the A4 junction (Speen)
and follow the A4 through Newbury in the direction of Reading.
There are regular direct rail services from Thatcham to London,
Reading and Newbury. For Heathrow Airport change at Reading and
take the railair coach link direct to Heathrow. There are regular
bus services through all the estates to Newbury.
