Markets

Tuesday Market

Thame Market has been held on Tuesdays since the year 1230. It is held in the Upper High Street car park, from 8am.

A bustling and colourful affair, it accommodates approximately 42 traders and is considered the best market in Oxfordshire, with loyal customers travelling from far and wide.

Cattle Market

A Smallholder Sale in June 2011 brought in floods of vendors and purchasers, with entries of pigs, poultry, cattle, sheep, alpacas, horses, goats and donkeys.

Three auctioneers sold solidly all day and with so many lots in one place, Thame Farmers Mart can boast that this event is the biggest of its kind within (at least) a 100 mile radius. Normal Cattle Market days are Wednesdays and Fridays.

Farmers’ Market

The Mayor enjoyed a soapy hand shake last yearBy popular demand, Thame Farmers’ Market now holds a market on the fifth Saturday of any month, as well as the traditional second Tuesday in every month.

The Farmers sell a wide range of produce, from apple juice to free range meats to honey to locally caught fish.

French Market

Thame’s French Market is now well-established and very popular. The dates for 2011 are 30 June-2 July and, to be incorporated with Thame’s Christmas Event, 1-3 December. There will be bread & patisserie, pancakes, cheese, Provencal soaps, Normandy saucisson and pâté, Montélimar confectionery, wooden toys and basketwork. The market surrounds the Town Hall and the patisserie aromas drive us mad with desire!
