Since April 1997, Thame Town Hall has had a One Stop Shop, with
notice boards providing information on County, District and Town
Council Services, aiming to provide a single point of contact for
all council services. In essence, it offers a comprehensive “help
point” facility for residents, with an immediate, direct and
positive response to all enquiries.
In March 2006, in line with South Oxfordshire District Council’s
vision of Tourism for the future, the One Stop Shop extended its
range of services to include information on local attractions and
is now developing into Thame’s Information Centre.
Thame Information Centre is open from 9.00am to 5.00pm Monday to
Wednesday, 9.30am to 5.00pm Thursday, and 9.00am to 4.30pm Friday.
In addition, on the first Saturday of every month (10.00am to 12.00
midday), Thame Information Centre is open with three councillors
present. A member of the Customer Services staff will also be there
to offer services normally provided to the public Monday - Friday.
Now, visitors to the Town Hall can not only access information about
council services, but also an array of information about local attractions,
events and transport information including bus and train timetables.
Visitors can also use the two public access computers in the Information
Centre to view South Oxfordshire District Council’s dedicated
web site and to book accommodation online: www.visitsouthoxfordshire.co.uk.
Alternatively, they can ring the Telephone Hotline number on 0845
606 6881.
In April 2003, Thame Town Council launched its own web site: www.thametowncouncil.gov.uk.
The Council’s vision is to keep the public informed about
its activities, its councillors and meetings, and also what is happening
in Thame and the surrounding area.
The responsibility for updating the site lies with the Customer
Services staff and is undertaken on a daily basis with news items
and diary events. Council minutes and agendas are added by the Committee
Officer. Once a week an electronic newsletter is sent out to the
Council’s list of subscribers which is generated from the
news items on the web site. If you wish to receive a newsletter,
just provide your details via the “subscribe” button
on the right-hand side of the Home Page.
