The Town has enjoyed being twinned with a small town in the Eure
region of Normandy, France called Verneuil-Sur-Avre for over twenty
years now. The old town is surrounded by the remains of the medieval
town walls and contains many interesting old buildings and picturesque
streets. At its centre the large market place is home to the busy
and colourful weekly markets. Modern housing, commercial, and industrial
areas around the old town make Verneuil a busy local centre, and
the fast rail link to Paris has also seen an increase in the number
of Paris commuters in recent years.
The Town Twinning Association is very active in maintaining a lasting
friendship with our partners from Verneiul-Sur-Avre. The Association’s
main aim is to provide an economical and fun way to sample France.
