Christmas Festivals

St Peter and St Mary’s Church in the heart of the town centre is the place to be in the run up to Christmas. Stowmarket Christmas Tree Festival with over 200 trees is the largest of its kind in the country. Working with the Town Council and other churches the lights are switched on by a celebrity at the beginning of Advent weekend and the trees stay up throughout December attracting thousands of visitors from far and wide. Community groups, schools, local organisations and shops and businesses as well as church members show their creativity and decorate the trees to a very high standard. There is no doubt that the people who make the decorations have as much fun as the visitors do from looking at them. Whether you are 9 months, 9 years or 90 years old the atmosphere when you walk in is something very special. Various Christmas outings and coach parties make the most of this local attraction and all the other events and activities associated with it. See www.stowmarketparishchurch.co.uk for more information.
