shopping and eating

The town has a wide range of shops with a number of national retailers such as Waitrose, Edinburgh Woollen Mills, Boots, Burtons, Marks and Spencers, Woolworths and Westgate having their stores in the town centre. These are augmented by a number of locally owned shops which have been serving the inhabitants for very many years, such as Barretts, Brittains, Freemans and so on. The Market Square refurbishment was completed in 2003 and this has become the venue for the weekly Charter Market, Bi-monthly Farmers’ Market and international markets as well as events by local clubs and societies. The “Heartsease" Folk Dance troupe who traditionally dance in May on the Market Square. New restaurants and newly renovated pubs encourage “al fresco” dining in fine weather.

There is a good range of cafés, restaurants and pubs in the town centre to cater for the needs of the inner man.

Out of town development has also taken place with the large Tesco store on Barford Road and the recently opened B & Q at the south end of Eaton Socon near the A1.

All parts of St. Neots are served by a variety of convenience stores and have their share of pubs which formerly served the extensive coaching trade from the A1 to the North.
