St Neots is a fast growing Town with excellent access to the national
road network being on the A1 and near the M11. We have a main line
railway station and are in easy reach of several regional airports.
The local Plan sees us as a growth centre for population and job
growth. We are in the Cambridge Sub-Region and in the middle of
the Government's strategic Cambridge/Oxford Corridor. Unemployment
is very low. We are on the main routes to the East Coast Ports and
into the heart of EU markets.
St Neots has a good representation of major manufacturing with several
global players having factories in the town, such as ABB Automation
Ltd, Bosch Rexroth Ltd, Sealed Air Ltd and Gates Hydraulics Ltd.
Apart from these big hitters we have a wide range of medium and
small companies making a wide variety of products, with an emphasis
on engineering. We have successful printers like TSG Creative Solutions
Ltd, Trenton Box Ltd and A C Black Ltd. Hunts Post Business Award
winners include Prosol Electronics Ltd and the innovative Dufaylite
Developments Ltd. Many of our Manufacturers work together in a Manufacturers
Club whose co-operative work is attracting widespread interest.
They also work closely with local schools, the Huntingdon Regional
College, who have a local annexe, and regional centres of excellence
like the Institute of Manufacturing in Cambridge University.
The service sector has a star player with the Wyboston Lakes Ltd
complex (including the Robinson Centre) just by the AI, on the edge
of St Neots. This 350 acre site has won many awards and is a national
player in training provision and conferencing, plus it has varied
leisure facilities, (a golf course, a water sports’ centre
and fitness club). It has high quality accommodation and eating
facilities open to the public. In the construction industry we have
big players like Kier and Laing Utilities.
The Town Council sees the matching growth of population and employment
as a key sustainability strategy. Keeping people living and working
in the town will keep it a vibrant community and keep people off
the road work network. They will continue to support an expanding
infrastructure of business parks, like the Colmworth and Alpha Business
Parks, that will further this strategic aim.
