Rushden
High Street still shows some attractive examples of late Victorian
and Edwardian building, although mainly above fascia level.
The banks of
Rushden retain their full design, reflecting more than any other
buildings the confidence of their original owners and the success
of Rushden as a manufacturing town. Natwest, Lloyds and HSBC are
flamboyant examples, decorated in stone with strapwork, floral details,
urns and gargoyles they are more in keeping with a city branch rather
than that of a town. |
