When
Rushden Urban District Council ceased it was proposed to use the
chain and ‘jewel’ for the new district council, with
the permission of the original donors. The RUDC monogram and names
of the former chairmen were erased in order for those of the district
to be engraved, which continues to this day.
It was decided
to seek new civic regalia for the newly formed Rushden Town Council,
which was made possible by the generous donations from local businesses,
the union KAFAT and individual members of the council including
one member of the former Rushden Urban District Council.
The ‘jewels’
of all four new chains are hand painted and depict Rushden Hall,
St Mary’s Parish Church and the War memorial. |
