Introduction

View of Princes RisbroughThe small country town of Princes Risborough lies between the Vale of Aylesbury and the Western Escarpment of the Chiltern Hills, on the route of the pre-Roman Upper Icknield Way and is dominated by a chalk hill carving, the Whiteleaf Cross, that is once again clearly seen for many miles on the approaches to the town, following a restoration project in 2003.

This Town Guide is published by the Princes Risborough Town Council for the benefit of both residents and visitors alike, who seek to enjoy the advantages of being part of our community.

I trust it will also be informative and interesting to prospective residents, visitors and tourists and enable them to take full advantage of what the town has to offer.

As a community we seek to be inclusive, open and friendly both to fellow residents and especially to those who come to visit.

Having lived in Princes Risborough for many years I know at first hand exactly what a wonderfully warm and friendly town Princes Risborough is, both in which to live and visit. I hope that you will enjoy seeking out our rich history and participating actively in our bright future.

Alan Turner
Town Mayor & Chairman, Princes Risborough Town Council 2008
