Sport

All sports are played in the area, with Cricket on The Heath, Rugby Union next to the Taro Sports Centre, Association Football at the Love Lane playing fields, and tennis at The Avenue playing fields. The Library will be able to help you make contact with any clubs that interest The Avenue Pavilionyou.

Petersfield Bowling Club

The club is in the centre of the town in St Peter’s Road. Bowling for all ages is catered for and the club house has a convivial atmosphere where all are made welcome.

Service Clubs

As one would expect of a Town such as Petersfield, there are Rotary, Round Table, Probus and Lions clubs all making their own characteristic contribution to the life of the Town that they seek to serve.

Cycling

Petersfield has become a centre of a comprehensive network of long distance and within-the-town cycle routes. The aim is to provide safe cycle ways for family enjoyment and to create a sound alternative to fossil-fuelled journeys. Cycling is a wonderful way to get to know the Town and the lovely countryside that surrounds it. Walking

If walking interests you, this is the place! Whether is be the long distance hike along the South Downs Way or the Sunday stroll around the Town and the surrounding villages of Buriton, Steep, Sheet, Harting or East Meon, the choice is yours. Ordnance Survey Explorer Map 133, (1:25000) will be useful. Maps of local Definitive Rights of Way can be viewed in Petersfield Library.

Swimming

For swimmers of all ages Petersfield is a real find, with a summer opening outdoor pool and an all year round indoor pool at the Taro Leisure Centre. The outdoor pool functions as a charity managed by local people and is situated behind the Town Hall. It opens in April and closes in September and during this time some 25,000 people come for a relaxing swim and a chat with friends.

The all-year-round Taro Leisure Centre is to the east of the Town,
adjacent to the District Council Offices.
