Local Government

Petersfield Town Council (12 Members)

The running of the Town is vested in the District and Town Councils, with the Town Council commenting on planning applications. The running of The Festival Hall, Sheet Village Hall and the Avenue Pavilion are its responsibility and most importantly it maintains The Heath and the Town’s recreation grounds.

The Town Council has been awarded Quality Council status as a result of the efficiency of its workings and its acknowledgement of the necessity of having good communications with its electors. There are monthly meetings of the council (the first Monday in the month) and the major committees meet every month with the exception of August and December.

Of interest to the Town’s electorate is the quarterly newsletter which has a wide circulation.
