Education

All styles of education up to 18 years of age are to be found in Petersfield and the surrounding area. They range from pre-school to the sixth forms found in Churcher’s College - (Independent); Bedales - (Independent). Ditcham Park - (Independent) does not operate a Sixth Form.
St Peter's Rd Junior School Tower
The Petersfield School (TPS) is the Town’s state secondary school for 11-16 year olds. It has specialist status as a Performing Arts College and boasts a £1m studio theatre which is used as a teaching and performing space for drama, dance and music and also is available for community events.

The Hampshire Children’s Information Service (0845 603 4520) has details of OFSTED registered Child Minding Providers, Pre-School Playgroups and Day Care Nurseries, and will only be too happy to provide details to enquiring parents.

Primary education is well catered for in the Town with Herne Junior School, Sheet Primary School and Petersfield Infants School. Churcher's College and Bedales also provide private primary education. Places are sometimes available also at Buriton, Steep C.E. and Langrish Primary Schools.

High placings in the OFSTED reports are a feature of many of the schools of Petersfield and the surrounding area.

Adult Education, University of the Third Age (U3A), and W.E.A. courses are readily available, details are available from the Community Centre and the Library.

U3A.

Petersfield University of the Third Age is one of many such organisations throughout the UK, and indeed worldwide, with the aim of continuous learning, in its broadest sense, for people in retirement. With well over 500 members who have not had to provide entry qualifications, the only reward is that of learning achievement.

There are over thirty study groups covering subjects that range from art appreciation to science and technology, and include the study of family history and conversation groups in French, or any other language requested by sufficient numbers.
