The Paddock Wood Active Retirement Association (PADDARA) was formed
in November 2001 for people over the age of 50 who are either retired
or semi-retired. The membership has been set at a maximum of 130
to ensure that meetings numbers are within health and safety levels
at St Andrews Church Hall, which is our regular meeting point.
The club has regular monthly meetings where a speaker or entertainer
enlivens the afternoon. In addition the club organises day trips,
holidays, barn dances, quizzes, beetle drives, rambles (with pub
lunches) and many members short mat and 10 pin bowl together. The
club is part of the Kent Active Retirement Association (KentARA)
and therefore members can take part in the many additional activities
that they organise.
The club and KentARA are non-profit making organisations with the
aim to ensure that a full and active retirement is within the financial
means of all. Our present annual membership fee is £5 per
person and meeting attendances costs members 50p, which includes
for tea/coffee and biscuits. Unfortunately, as well as a full membership
the waiting list is 50 people long so it may take some time before
additional space will be available. However, at present the club
is able to accommodate non-members at its monthly meeting for a
charge of £1.50 per person.
For further details please contact Jackie Root (Chairman) on 01892

Paddock Wood Women’s Institute has been in the Town for nearly
ninety years and is part of a National and County Federation who
arrange many events for members to enjoy.
A very friendly group of ladies, who cover quite a wide age range,
meet once a month at the Day Centre in Commercial Road.
Our members enjoy speakers on various topics, also arrange outings
and “taster” sessions in sports such as bowls and archery.
We always look forward to welcoming new members. The contact phone
number is 01892 832130
