Ordinary people - Amazing things
As your local club, Paddock Wood & District Lions Club has
provided services to our community for over 24 years. We are just
one of the 80 Clubs in south-east England, 1900 Clubs throughout
Great Britain and Ireland or 46,000 throughout the world all working
to the same aim –
“To create and foster a spirit of understanding among all
people for humanitarian needs providing voluntary services through
community involvement and international co-operation”
Arguably, the largest service organisation in the world.
The main event in the Paddock Wood Lions calendar is the Carnival
and Fete that has been organised by the Club since 1983. All the
money raised (without deduction for administration) by this event
is returned to the Town and surrounding area in charity and welfare
projects including sponsorship for youth activities and assistance
for the housebound and others in distress.
We would like to thank all who have entered the annual “Duck
Races”, “Stash the Loot” and other competitions
which have resulted in donations to Hospice in the Weald, Demelza
House Children’s Hospice, the Air Ambulance and Macmillan
Nurses to name but a few.
In recent years we have enjoyed assisting Father Christmas and his
sleigh during his tours of the neighbourhood and our thanks also
go to those who contributed to his collections.
The Lions Motto is “We serve” and members have been
known to undertake garden clearances, decorating, hospital runs
and other work of a similar nature.
Monthly business meetings are held at a local hostelry. New members
(male and female) wishing to “put something back” are
always welcome. If you would like to know more, - contact Lion Stanley
Ward on 01892 833611or email stanley@paddwood.wanadoo.co.uk for
details.
