Paddock Wood Historical Society was founded in June 1971 and has
continued to meet monthly since that time.
The Society aims to reach a fairly wide audience with lectures and
outings on history in general, but does include items of local historical
interest in the programme.
Enquiries concerning local family history are welcomed. The Society
might not always be able to find the answer, but may be able to
refer the enquirer to a relevant source.
Details of the Society meetings are on display in the library. New
members and visitors are always welcome (phone: 01892 833135). Meetings
are held at 8.00 pm on the third Thursday of each month in the Day
Centre, Commercial Road, Paddock Wood.
Paddock Wood RNA was formed in October 1990 and is a successful
Branch with 48 members – this number includes Full, Life and
Associate members.
Our Social Secretary is always open to suggestions for visits, which
over the past year have included theatre trips, a day trip to Portsmouth
as well as various parades etc where the Branch Standard has been
proudly displayed.
The Branch meets every 2nd Monday in the month at Paddock Wood Working
Man’s Club in Lucknow Road, at 8.00pm. We are always keen
to attract new members from the WRNS, RN or RM – so if anyone
wishes to join us they will be made most welcome.
Please contact Kevin Norman,
Membership Secretary on 01892 722841.
