The original Health Centre was opened to great acclaim in 1971
being the first purpose built Health Centre in Kent and the culmination
of Dr Macdonald’s vision for primary health care in Paddock
Wood. Thirty six years later, we are working in our second purpose
built Health Centre which opened in May 2006.
The Health Centre is shared with the Primary Care Trust staff and
has accommodation for Doctors, Nurses, Midwives and Health Visitors.
Chiropody, Speech Therapy and Community Dentistry continue and there
are rooms available for Counsellor, Clinical Psychologist and Community
Psychiatric Nurses. The health education room is the base for ante
natal classes, parentcraft classes and further education.
We have a long tradition of being a training practice with regular
attachments for GP Registrars, Student Nurses, Midwives and Health
Visitors and this will continue in the future.
Our regularly updated website, www.woodlandshealthcentre.org.uk,
is proving to be a popular information resource of the services
available.
Primary health care provision is always changing and developing
and we believe that Paddock Wood now has a new Health Centre to
be proud of and one that will serve the community well while accommodating
the developments in health care in the 21st century.
 The
Magpies Drama Group was formed in 1981. They put on two main productions
each year, a play in Spring (farce, comedy, thriller or an evening
of one act plays) and a family show in Winter (usually a pantomime)
at Matfield Village Hall. It also holds a very popular Murder Mystery
evening in late Summer/early Autumn in Paddock Wood. It is also
involved in many other things throughout the year in Paddock Wood
and the surrounding area. It always takes part in the Paddock Wood
Carnival and holds a stall at the Fete in order to raise much needed
funds.
For more details about the group, please call 01892 834365.
