Non-conformity came to Olney at the end of the seventeenth century. The old building of the Sutcliff Baptist Church was built in 1694 and this was very quickly followed in 1700 by the Congregational Church now the Cowper Memorial United Reformed Church. The Catholic Church was not built until the beginning of the 20th century.
