The National Stud

The National StudThe National stud was originally gifted to the Nation in 1916 and is set in 500 beautiful acres of tree lined paddocks. The stud is home to a selection of top class thoroughbreds and tours provide the opportunity to see the stallions, mares and foals. There are also miniature Shetland ponies, which provide a warm welcome for visitors to the Stud.

From March to September and on Newmarket race days in the autumn, the stud runs guided tours twice daily, at 11.15am and 2.30pm. Large groups can visit at other times by prior arrangement. Tours are 75 minutes and are taken by coach and on foot.

The Weatherbys Pavillion provides invaluable background information about all aspects of The National Stud which adjoins Wavertrees Coffee and Gift Shop. It is open daily to the general public from 9.30am until 4.30pm all though the year. Wavertrees offers Breakfast, light lunches and afternoon teas.
