Newmarket
operates a three tier school system. Local Primary schools include
All Saints, St Louis, Ditton Lodge, Laureate and Paddocks. Newmarket
has two Middle Schools, St Felix and Scaltback, and one College
and Sixth Form.
We are proud to say that all our local schools aim to teach at the
highest level and form a great social basis for the children. All
schools have a large variety of after school clubs.
To give a more detailed insight into our local schools, we have
invited St Felix Middle School to list their aims:-
St Felix is a Church of England Voluntary Controlled school, which
aims to:-
• Offer a broad, balanced and relevant education, suited to
the need of each pupil, within the framework of the National curriculum
• Enable every child to reach the highest standards of which
he or she is capable
• Create a place in which each child finds enjoyment, fulfilment
and success
• Recognise the value and worth of each and every pupil and
provide an equal entitlement for all
• Foster qualities of care and respect for others, based upon
Christian values and beliefs
• Respond to the needs of a modern and changing society
We also have a strong culture of performance in Music, Dance and
Drama. We stage numerous concerts and shows participated in by a
variety of ensembles and groups, and our Christmas Spectacular at
Tattersalls Sales Ring - performed in by every child in the school
- enjoys a high reputation throughout the area. This enables our
children to thrive and rapidly become confident young people. It
is noticeable to the visitor that our youngsters are confident in
speaking and in performing to them, even the youngest children with
the least experience of, say, musical tuition. We have an active
School Council who organise many charity events and many of our
performing groups are active in charity fundraising. Our band of
steel pans, Pantastix, is a regular feature of life in the town.
