Memorial Hall and Gardens

King Edward VII Memorial Hall and Gardens was founded on the benefaction of Charles II. That trend has continued and in 1911, Sir Earnest Cassel gave the King Edward VII Memorial Hall to the Town for the use of its resident.

Memorial Garden This civic building and the glorious gardens tucked behind it have been an integral part of the community over the years. Use of the Hall and the gardens are an oasis of calm and a place to sit or walk and enjoy the summer sunshine.

In 1999 the newly formed Town Council took over the care of the building and gardens. Under its patronage, the hall has recovered its former glory and is once again a part of every day life in the community. A summer program of entertainments in the gardens and a new water feature bring children form far and wide, while the old Supper Room has become the Council Chamber.

For further information on how to hire the Memorial Hall, please contact 01638 667 227.
