Newmarket Racecourses
Summer at Newmarket means the magic of the July Course, an oasis
of sun dappled lawns, magnificent beech trees, flourishing flowers,
thatched roofs, historic grandstands and sparkling new facilities
behind the stands following the £10m enlargement and redevelopment
of this area in 2007. The romance of the surroundings creates a
captivating atmosphere unlike any other racecourse.
It is here that Newmarket plays host to its flagship summer event,
The Ritz Club July Festival - three days of world class racing and
fabulous fashion in the magical garden party setting of the July
Course.
The meeting opens on Wednesday followed on Thursday by Lanson Ladies’
Day, Newmarket’s most stylish race day when the fashions really
come to the fore. It climaxes with the drama of the Darley July
Cup, Europe's premier sprint race, on the Friday.
With over £1.3m in prize money on offer, horses from all over
the world compete on the July Course this week. The action on the
track is red hot, as are the sights amongst the crowd, with exciting
"best dressed" prizes on each day.
The July Course also hosts the famous Newmarket Nights - where racing
gets underway early evening and concludes as nights falls, immediately
followed by an open-air concert from a well known band or artiste.
Previous acts have included Texas, Madness, Wet Wet Wet and Ronan
Keating. To be sure of a ticket advanced bookings are advisable
for Newmarket Nights
