Welcome Message

Newmarket is a unique and historic market town. This Town Guide shows visitors our town and all its many attractions. Horseracing and Breeding are very important for Newmarket. It Tattersalls Saleshas many fine listed buildings, attractive shopping, varied recreational facilities and a variety of hotels, restaurants and cafes. Newmarket gives easy access to the attractive villages and countryside which surround the town. There are many historic sites such as the Icknield Way and the Devil’s Dyke, which link Newmarket to Anglo-Saxon times. The Dyke is an Ancient Monument, and is the largest defensive earthwork in the country. This Guide has been created with contributions from every section of Newmarket. It is a Town Guide written by the Newmarket people. We want visitors to enjoy their visit and to tell all their friends about our unique market town.
