Residents across Newcastle
Borough can now access a whole range of electronic services which
meet the latest disability accessibility standards.
The Council has revamped its website at www.newcastle-staffs.gov.uk
to include a host of new features, many of them specifically requested
by residents during consultations by the Council on improving communications.
And the whole site meets national and international accessibility
standards, so that residents with a range of disability problems
can easily access information and services.
It has the RNIB “See It Right” accreditation, the plain
English Crystal Mark and a Browsealoud facility.
By the end of this year it is anticipated at current growth rates,
at least 300,000 people a year will be visiting the site. The figure
is rising dramatically due to continual improvements to the website
as well as increases in the number of services provided online.
Key features on the site include:-
* An A-Z of services provided by the local authority.
* News – an up-to-the minute service on Council events and
happenings with an audio version for those with sight difficulties.
* New and improved recycling microsite with everything residents
need to know about collection services.
* A youth website designed following consultations with young people
in the Borough.
* Online booking facilities and virtual tours highlighting the range
of sports and leisure facilities provided by the Council.
