Positioned at the heart of the United Kingdom, Newcastle-under-Lyme has superb road and rail connections with the rest of the country.
Central to the motorway network, Newcastle is on the main A34 linking junctions 15 and 16 of the M6. The Borough’s closeness to the M6 and central location between Manchester and Birmingham have been boosted by the development of the A50 link road, speeding up access to the M1.Canal

Airports at Manchester, Liverpool, Birmingham and Nottingham’s East Midlands are also within easy reach.

ROAD The M6 – one of the United Kingdom’s most important transport arteries – runs through the Borough. Access can be gained to the A500 which is the main link between communities in North Staffordshire and has been the subject of huge investment to bring improvements for users. The extensive trunk road network also comprises the A34 – which links to the conurbations in the north and south of Staffordshire. The improved A50 carries vehicles to the west while the A51 links to Chester and North Wales.

AIR Manchester International Airport is about 40 miles to the north of Newcastle Borough. Flights arrive and depart to all four corners of the globe and the airport anticipates that it will handle more than 30 million passengers annually by the end of the decade. Birmingham International Airport is less than an hour away and travellers will find direct scheduled and charter flights linking over 100 destinations across Europe, North America and the Middle East. Liverpool’s John Lennon Airport and East Midlands Airport near Nottingham are also within easy driving distance from the Borough.

RAIL Domestic and international rail links sit on the doorstep of our Borough. We have our own railway station at Kidsgrove which provides access to the national network. Only minutes away are Stoke-on-Trent and Crewe stations – which sit on the important West Coast Main Line. London Euston is only an hour and 34 minutes from Stoke, while Manchester by rail takes just 42 minutes and Birmingham is an hour away.
