Welcome
to the updated edition of the Mid Sussex District Guide. The guide
is designed to give you an insight into everything that Mid Sussex
has to offer.
Mid Sussex is set in a beautiful part of the unspoilt South East,
with the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty to the north
and picturesque South Downs to the south.
I have lived in Mid Sussex for more than forty years. Now, as Chairman
of Mid Sussex District Council, I have had the opportunity to discover
so much more about our District that I didn’t know! I am therefore
really pleased to be able to introduce this guide to our towns,
villages, business and leisure facilities. I hope you take the opportunity
to discover its secrets yourself.
Mid Sussex is a wonderful place in which to live and work. We have
three diverse town centres with Burgess Hill, East Grinstead and
Haywards Heath each possessing their own unique character.
Beautiful Mid Sussex countryside and quaint villages and hamlets
surround the main towns. Often set in conservation areas or Areas
of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Mid Sussex villages offer idyllic
rural living. Local villages such as Lindfield and Warninglid have
received the ‘Best kept villages’ award many times in
the last 25 years and they are typical of the attractive villages
in the area.
We are extremely proud of Mid Sussex and take great care in working
for the well being of our community. Whether you are a current resident
or a visitor to the area, there is always something new to discover
in Mid Sussex.

Councillor Margaret Hersey
Chairman, Mid Sussex District Council
