Exciting Annual Events

Leighton-Linslade Town Council regularly puts on FREE community events which are now firm fixtures in the town’s event calendar.

Summer Band CaoncertMusic in the Park: Silver and brass bands play all your favourite tunes from the beautifully restored 1930’s bandstand in Parson’s Close, the town’s premier park. Most Sunday afternoons during the summer you can find a spot for your deckchair in the shade of the mature trees to sit back and relax.

Anglia in Bloom: Following the 2010 High Silver Award in this county competition, the town continues working together for another stab at the top prize, resulting in automatic entry to the well known Britain in Bloom. Meanwhile the town benefits as it is transformed into a ‘blooming’ paradise, a sight to see!

Mayday Fayre: Running for 20 years and hosted by the Rotary Club, this popular annual event promises something for everyone including over 20 stalls, a showground and live music.

Leighton-Linslade Carnival: Early July sees the streets light up as the annual carnival begins with a parade of floats through the town. The day continues with a circus, stalls, live music and many more attractions.

Living History DayLinslade Canal Festival: Always the last Saturday in July, the festival has taken place in the beautiful setting of Tiddenfoot Waterside Park, Linslade since 2003. The bustling day attracts countless narrow boats and visitors as they join in with the locals to enjoy the eclectic mix of entertainment on offer. Something for everyone including live folk music and dancing, animals, rural craft demonstrators, pig on the spit and a beer tent!

Cultural Event: Since the year 2000, October is the month for this bumper community event, taking place in Leighton Buzzard’s historic town centre. Traditionally, this event has been an historical themed day looking back over periods of history from the Roman Times to present day. 2011 will see the event taking on a ‘cultural’ theme. Not only will local organisations perform music and dance but artists, literary groups and local ethnic communities will all be able to show off their talent and skills. Another ‘not to be missed’ day.
