Hertford, the County Town of Hertfordshire, has a rich history,
and a wealth of activities and attractions for local residents and
visitors to the town.
Whilst Hertford Castle is the best known of the town’s historic
buildings, there are many others of great architectural interest
and historical importance, including
a Norman church, the world’s oldest purpose-built Quaker Meeting
House, and shops and other town centre properties dating back over
several centuries.
The town is an ideal destination for shopping trips, offering a
range of independent shops alongside high-street favourites. There
is also parkland, river walks, and a range of leisure facilities
to enjoy. Hertford Castle’s grounds play host to a programme
of events over the summer months, with something to suit everyone.
It is easy to get to Hertford by car or public transport. Two railway
stations serve the town with frequent services to London, making
Hertford an ideal place to stay for visitors who wish to also explore
the capital. The M25, A1(M), A10 and M11 are all easily accessible,
and the town’s bus station is a destination for bus routes
from around the county.
