Parks and Gardens For
people seeking peace, tranquillity or relaxation there are excellent
country parks to visit in the area.
Hartham Common www.eastherts.gov.uk. Extensive
area of open public space set between Port Hill and the River Lea,
provides facilities and an ideal place for walks and picnics. The
Warren, a woodland walk also overlooks the park. In medieval times,
Hartham, a splendid natural amphitheatre, was the scene of tournaments
and archery contests.

The Lee Valley walk is a 50 mile way marked route, following the
River Lea from the Thames, via Hertford and Harpenden to Luton,
through a variety of rural and urban landscapes. Includes Rye House

Cole Green Way, Hertford. Walk on disused railway
line.

and nature habitats are available in leaflets, booklets and maps

Road, The Castle, The Ridgeway and Watermill Lane.
