Henfield
Museum is run by the Parish Council. The collection was started
by Miss Lucie Bishop in the 1920s, with donations of objects from
the people of Henfield. Much of the collection is on permanent display,
telling the story of Henfield. This is illustrated with flint implements,
Tudor, Victorian and Edwardian household objects, ladies’
dresses, military uniforms, a penny farthing bicycle and farming
tools.
There are also large collections of local paintings and photographs.
Several temporary exhibitions of a topical nature are staged each
year. The Museum is in the Henfield Hall, and is open on Mondays
and Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 10 am to 12
noon, and on Wednesdays from 2.30 - 4.30 p.m., and Saturdays from
2.30 - 4 p.m. Contact: 01273 492546.
