Girlguiding in Henfield. There have been Girl Guides in Henfield since 1917, when Olave, Lady Baden Powell became the County Commissioner for Sussex. Now the movement caters for all ages: Rainbow Guides 5 - 7 years old, Brownie Guides 7 - 10 years old, Guides 10 - 14 years old and a Senior Section from 14 years old. Our slogan is "Girls in the lead" with the girls having a major input on all decisions and planning for their units. Camping is popular with the Guides, and the Brownies enjoy sleepovers and pack holidays. If you would like to join us please contact Sara Williams, District Administrator tel: 01273 494470. For women with an interest in guiding there is a very active Trefoil Guild. Contact Mary Holder Tel: 01273 492351.

Henfield and District Angling Society. Fishermen, fisher-ladies and fisher-children, the one that got away is still there for your line. Our age range is almost as wide as the fish we seek, (from 9 to 90). All are welcome, and the club is active throughout the year for pleasure angling and friendly competition amongst members and with other clubs. There is an annual BBQ on the banks of the Adur and a Christmas ‘get together’ match and meal. Catch us for more information on 01273 494389 and 01903 812115.

Henfield Cricket Club. Every summer weekend is cricket time on Henfield Common where matches have been played since 1721, making it one of the oldest grounds in the world. The setting is wonderful and Henfield is a great club to play for running three men’s and a ladies XI. Both 1st and 2nd Xls have full fixture cards from late April into September plus Cricket Week and occasional mid-week games. Saturday matches are Sussex Invitation League cricket while Sunday has ‘friendly’ fixtures, usually with clubs not met with in the league. Feeding into the senior teams are the colts aged from 8 to 16, in the charge of accredited coaches. The colts have regular fixtures. Practice facilities are excellent and include an all weather net. The club welcomes both playing and non-playing members; neither age nor skill need preclude you. The pavilion (centrally heated) is well equipped for the social events held throughout the year. Contact: 01273 495838.

Henfield Football Club. From September to May there is football for girls, boys and ladies as well as the men. New members are all welcome; you do not have to be a wonder star. There is room for everyone, whether player, coach, supporter or cheer leader. Boys of 7 begin their careers in the Horsham and District Youth Leagues. At 16 they join the men for places in the three teams competing in the West Sussex Leagues. Girls from 9 to 15 play in the Sussex Women and Girls League, joining the women’s section at 16.
