Birchwood Leisure Centre offers excellent facilities for health
and fitness. The floodlit multi- sports
all weather Astro-Turf court allows sporting activities to continue
long into the evening. There are 3 adult football pitches and 1
junior pitch behind the Centre. It is the home of Hatfield Town
Reserves Football Club. The indoor facilities include a multi-functional
hall used for badminton, aerobics, basketball, 5-a-side football,
netball, karate and roller hockey. It is also used by the ACTIVATE
club for Adults with learning difficulties who play badminton on
a weekly basis.
Other established activities include Sports Parties for over 5s,
Little Kickers and Lifestyle Pilates which has its own Studio.
Beeches Health Suite, which is part of the leisure complex, has
exercise equipment that ensures a maximum range of fitness and health
facilities for both serious and casual users.
The Sportsman Suite, a large meeting room in the leisure complex,
is available to hire for meetings, training and interviews. It is
also perfect for birthday parties and light refreshments are available
on request. The Suite is also used for karate as well as Weight
Watchers.
The younger visitors are guaranteed a fun packed session at our
FunZone that accommodates toddlers through to 16 year olds. From
hot food parties to exclusive use hire we cater for
all needs.

The Hatfield Town Council Playscheme at Birchwood Leisure Centre
has been accredited with The Hertfordshire Quality Standards Award.
This demonstrates a commitment to work together for the benefit
of all children and families in Hertfordshire. The Playscheme is
open every school holiday from 8.30 am until 6.00 pm daily. A varied
programme of activities ranging from sports to arts and crafts is
available to all children age 4 to School Year 7.

Set in the picturesque village of Lemsford, the hall is situated
in grounds overlooking the Lea Valley. It provides an attractive
and ideal location for weddings, anniversaries and birthday
parties. It has a traditional feel with a woodblock floor and wooden
beams. Adjacent to the pretty Church
of St. John’s, it accommodates many local activities, including
Fly Dressing, Scottish Dancing, Splitz Dance Club, Yoga and Councillor
Surgeries. It is also the home of Annabel’s
Montessori School for 2-5 year olds and teaches a wide range of
activities including music, dance, French and cooking. With a Main
Hall that will comfortably seat 75
people, a Lounge Bar and Outdoor Terrace, the Hall is a very popular
venue.
Outside the Hall is a football pitch, a fenced play area and a large
car park.

The hall at Newgate Street will comfortably seat 120 people making
it ideal for private functions such as weddings. There is also a
stage, kitchen and ample parking facilities.
The village activities that take place in the hall throughout the
year include the May Fair, the Harvest Supper and the Art Show.
The hall is also used by children from the local school for PE and
drama as well as for social events organised
by the Church.
The many sporting options include
badminton, keep fit, cheerleading, carpet bowls, outdoor tennis
courts and a football pitch. The children’s play area is fenced
and is dog-free.

Situated in grounds of 12.5 acres, Roe Hill Hall is the prime function
hall in Hatfield and is set in a quiet yet central location with
ample floodlit car parking. It has undergone a major transformation
and is now the perfect setting for weddings, anniversaries and birthday
parties. It has a wooden floor and an adjoining room, perfect for
a buffet. The larger main hall will comfortably seat 100 and the
new smaller Activity Room can accommodate 50. Both halls have kitchens
with serving hatches and access to the bar. All the
facilities are available to hire for community activities, business
and private functions.
The very full programme of community activities includes EXTEND
classes for over 60s, fitness classes, children’s dance classes,
karate, yoga, Bible meetings and Councillor Surgeries It is the
home of Hatfield QE Rugby Football Club and Hatfield Crusaders Cricket
Club. It also has a Playgroup, Monday to Friday mornings, and a
fenced children’s play area.

Oxlease House was completely re-built in 1994. It comprises a carpeted
main hall, with adjoining annex and kitchen. The complex will accommodate
70 people and is currently the home for the Workers Educational
Association, the Baptist Church, Jubilee Revival Chapel, New Light
Spiritual Organisation, Parkinson’s Disease Society, Slimming
World, GKR Karate, and Labour Party Meetings. It is also used for
meetings, children’s parties and family gatherings.
Howe Dell Community Hall

Built next door to Howe Dell School complete with its own wind turbine,
this hall is the latest building to be owned and run by the Council
for the community to use. The hall and school have been built with
innovative sustainable elements such as renewable energy, recycled
materials, natural ventilation and lighting and water management.
The hall has a capacity for 80 people with a fully equipped kitchen,
small ante room, patio and grassed area. It is unlicensed and a
great place for meetings and children’s parties. The hall
is currently used for a nutrition Wellness Club, karate, fitness
class, Slimming World, Salvation Army drop-in and a Church Group.
The de Havilland Residents Association also meet at the hall.
