Public Conveniences
There are four Public toilets in Harpenden and are open 8.00am -
6.00pm every day (including Bank Holidays). These are sited at:
• Leyton Road/High Street
• Westfield Cemetery, Westfield Road.
There are also public toilets sited within Sainsbury’s Supermarket,
30 High Street, and Co-operative Supermarket, Southdown Road, which
are available to the public without having to use the store. These
are open during store hours which are:
Sainbury’s: Monday to Saturday 7.00am - 9.00pm, Sunday 10.00am
- 4.00pm
Co-operative: Monday to Saturday 7.00am - 10.00pm, Sunday 10.00am
- 4.00pm
Car Parks
Harpenden Town Centre has ample car parking facilities with free,
short stay, on-road parking and four further fee paying car parks
in Amenbury Lane, Sun Lane, Bowers Way and at the Station. There
are also free car parks in Southdown and Batford. Please see the
map at the back of the booklet for locations. All of the car parks
managed by Harpenden Town Council and St. Albans District Council
have disabled parking spaces.
There is also disabled parking available throughout the Town Centre

Recycling Sites in Harpenden
The Household Waste Site at Dark Lane takes aluminium foil, domestic
and car batteries, cans - aerosol, aluminium and steel, cardboard,
carrier bags (plastic), CD’s, electrical appliances (WEEE),
fluorescent lighting tubes, food and drink cartons, fridges and
freezers, glass, green garden waste, low energy light bulbs, metals,
mobile phones, oil (cooking and engine), ovens and hobs, paper,
plasterboard, plastic - rigid, bottles, shoes, soil improver, textiles,
toner cartridges, TV’s and monitors, tyres, any other white
goods, wood and yellow pages. Opening times - 10.00am - 6.00pm
There are also recycling facilities at the Amenbury Lane, Bowers
Way East and
Co-operative Supermarket Car Parks.
