AREA: Approximately 5000 acres.

POPULATION: Approximately 20,500. The published Town Council OfficesElectoral Roll for 2007/2008 shows 14,873 recorded electors (the remainder being school children and young persons under voting age) compared to the published Electoral Roll for 2008/2009 showing 15,476 recorded electors (the remainder being school children and young persons under voting age).

RESIDENTIAL RATES (Council Tax): For the year 2008-2009 this varies from Band A @ £1049.28, through Band D @ £1573.93, to Band H @ £3047.86

PARISH RATES:The Parish rate represents the proportional part of the Council Tax (collected by the District Council), which is paid to, and funds the Town Council's responsibilities. This amounts to £115.54 for Band D, in the year 2008-2009.

TOWN COUNCIL PRECEPT: Based on the above Parish rate, this represents a total of £817,880 for the year 2008-2009.
