Godalming
Museum
Godalming Museum is an exhibit in its own right as it is housed
in the town’s oldest building - excluding the parish church,
of course.
Beamwork in the medieval High Street building has been dated to
the mid-fifteenth century when Henry VI was king. Today, though,
the ancient walls house a fantastic display of the town’s
history with many interactive exhibits guaranteed to engross the
young and young-at-heart.
There is also an Arts and Crafts Gallery and a Local Studies Library
with an invaluable collection of documents and records ideal for
those in pursuit of their family history.
The museum is open from Tuesday-Saturday, 10am-5pm and entry is
free. Godalming Town Museum is in High Street, Godalming. Tel: (01483)

Godalming Library
If you are still under the impression that town libraries are little
more than repositories for musty old volumes that no one wants to
read, you have definitely lost the plot ...
For Godalming Library offers a fantastic range of services to the
local community. There are newspapers,
DVDs, music CDs, and a great range of ‘Talking Books’.
The library has a number of internet-enabled computers for people
to use and it also offers scanning, printing, CD-rewriting and printing
services. For those with disabilities, there are also computers
with a large, flat-screen monitor, easy-use mouse, large keyboard
with easy-to-see keys, wrist-rest and height-adjustable table.
Library staff are always on-hand to help those unfamiliar with the
Internet get started so no one needs to be intimidated by ‘technology’.
Oh, and the library also has quite a few good books to read, too!
Godalming Library is in Bridge Street, Godalming. Tel: (0300) 200
