Introducing Gainsborough

Gainsborough is a small market town on the eastern bank of the River Trent in the North West of Lincolnshire. It is within easy reach of Lincoln, 20 miles, Doncaster, 21 miles, Scunthorpe, 17 miles, Humber Bridge 35 miles, the Lincolnshire Wolds and east coast.

The town is part of the West Lindsey District Council area, and the administrative centre for the region. It has its own Town Council, with eighteen elected members for the parish of Gainsborough, first formed in 1992.

On the 19th July 1994, by order of Her Majesty in Council the Armorial Bearings of the Urban District Council of Gainsborough was transferred to the Gainsborough Town Council.

Gainsborough has a long and interesting history. Today it has much to offer both visitors and residents.
