Recreation and Sport

Clubs and indoor activities

There are more than 80 local clubs and organisations for all age groups, ranging from the Air Training Corp to yoga, listed in the back of this guide.

Outdoor activities

The major sports played in the town, at both senior and junior level, include cricket, rugby and soccer. Details for the many individual clubs are at the back of this guide.

In Stangrove Park there is a multi-purpose leisure centre, run by Sencio Leisure Trust. Facilities include swimming pools, squash court, sports hall, gym, dance studio, all-weather pitch and cafe.

Kent & Surrey Golf & Country Club has an 18 hole Championship Course, 14 bay floodlit driving range, club house and function room. Other courses are available nearby at Cowden, Hever and Limpsfield.

There is excellent angling in the rivers and fisheries around the district.

Kent and Surrey Golf ClubParks and playgrounds

The town’s parks are well-maintained large expanses of open green spaces. A wood was planted to celebrate the millennium at Mowshurst, and a variety of sports are played at the Lingfield Road Recreation Ground and cricket at Blossoms Park, where there are also skate/BMX ramps. Most contain children’s playgrounds and there is a pretty duck pond in Stangrove Park.

Countryside and walking

Edenbridge is surrounded by beautiful countryside, with fine views, and an excellent network of footpaths which provide anything from a short stroll to a full day’s walk. A selection of 10 short and longer walks are available from the Visitor Information Point, or can be downloaded from www.edenvalleykent.org
