Councillor don Rowley, Leader, Eastwood Town Council

The Town Council prides itself upon organising a wide range of services to the community and in supporting a variety of events and organisations which benefit both our town and our people. About two thirds of our total budget is spent upon community work and we make every effort to keep in regular contact with our residents. Our services are currently:-

• Recreation Grounds - Management and maintenance of Coronation Park and Mansfield Rd recreation grounds including children’s play areas.

• Sports Facilities – Maintenance and management of bowls greens, artificial soccer pitch, skateboard park and a basketball pitch. Maintenance of Eastwood Football Club pitch and the Eastwood Town Cricket Club pitch.

• Allotment Gardens – Management and maintenance of two large allotment garden sites in the town (Derby Rd and Dovecote Rd).

• Garden Services – Provision of (free) garden services to the elderly / disabled. This is a garden tidying service for those residents not able to do the work themselves and not able to obtain support elsewhere.

• Grants to Community Groups – Annual grants towards the running costs of organisations that clearly benefit the Eastwood community.

• Summer Floral Displays – Provision of hanging baskets and pavement displays for the entire length of the Town’s main street (Nottingham Road).

• Christmas Lights – Contributions towards the cost of the Christmas illuminations provided by the Borough Council

• Civic Events – Management and funding for both the Remembrance Day service and parades and the Annual Christmas Civic Service.

• Annual Arts Festival – Contributions towards the cost of the programme of events.

• Planning Control – Monitoring of all applications for development in the town.

• Public Relations / Communications – Annual Town Mayor’s Awards, Web page information, Quarterly newsletters, Town Council surgeries, Press statements.

• Representative Services – Representation upon community groups by Town Councillors.

• Community Action – Town Councillor support to individual cases, Review of all proposals for development, Town Council representation upon community matters.


Members of the public are most welcome to attend and observe all meetings of the Council and Committees. You can ask questions or make statements at full Town Council meetings. Details of the meetings are given on the notice boards and are available from the Town Council office. Finally our website provides regular updated information upon the Town Council and its activities.
