Leisure Facilities in Carterton

The Sports pavilionThe sports pavilion on Monahan Way and the leisure centre in Broadshires Way were opened in 2003 and offer a focus for leisure and recreation within the town. The pavilion is home to Carterton Football Club and Kilkenny Cricket Club as well as being available for public use. The facility includes four changing rooms with shower facilities and a social area. The adjacent playing fields accommodate two full size football pitches, a training pitch and a cricket square.

Carterton Leisure Centre provides a 6 lane, 25-metre swimming pool with adjacent teaching pool. The main pool is an excellent facility for recreational swimming and swimming lessons - its double shallow end make the facility particularly attractive. It also provides an excellent venue for competitive swimming with electronic timing gear fitted. A state of the art health and fitness gym is also provided as well as a multi use space suitable for a crèche and other activities.
Carterton also benefits from a thriving Bowls Club Carterton Library(tel 01993 843366 after 6.30p.m.) and Squash Club (tel 01993 842996). For further information about Carterton Football Club, which has more than 300 playing members, please telephone 01993 842410.

Carterton Library (tel: 01993 841492) is part of the library service provided by Oxfordshire County Council. The library building, which was opened in 1986, is on Alvescot Road in the town centre. It contains a wide range of fiction and non-fiction books and a reference section. There are also newspapers and magazines, a coin operated photocopier, music cassettes, compact discs and videos for hire. There are several Internet access points. The library is closed on Saturday afternoons and all day on Wednesday and Sunday.
