Leisure Facilities in Carterton

The sports pavilion on Monahan Way and the leisure centre in Broadshires Way are the focus of leisure and recreation within the town. The pavilion is used by Carterton Football Club and is home to the Kilkenny Cricket Club as well as being available to the wider public. The facility includes four changing rooms with shower facilities and a social area. The adjacent playing fields Leisure Centreinclude two full size football pitches, a training pitch and a cricket square. For further information about Carterton Football Club, which has more than 300 playing members, please telephone 01993 842410.

Carterton Leisure Centre provides a 6 lane, 25-metre swimming pool and a teaching pool. The main pool is an excellent facility for recreational swimming and swimming lessons - its double shallow end make the facility particularly attractive. A health and fitness gym is also provided as well as a multi use space suitable for a crèche and other activities.

Carterton also benefits from a thriving Bowls Club (tel 01993 843366 after 6.30pm) and Squash Club (tel 01993 842996).

The Country Park in Kilkenny Lane is a new adventure play space, the first of its kind in the district, owned and maintained by the District Council and funded by the Big Lottery Fund, Playbuilder and Section 106 developer contributions. It combines sensory elements with landscaped features offering children opportunities for exploration, and a range of equipment that will challenge and inspire them. The Park was officially opened on 8th May 2009 and is proving to be very popular.
