The ARC development will extend the existing town centre of Bury
St Edmunds and provide more shops, cafés and restaurants,
places to live, new public spaces and a great public venue. Arranged
around two new open shopping streets and a public square, the development,
scheduled
for completion in February 2009, includes:
• A department store and around 35 new shops, cafés
and restaurants
• 62 apartments above the shops
• 850 shoppers’ parking spaces (with 200 underground)
• A new public square and other public open space
• A multi-purpose public venue building
Once this is completed, a much wider pedestrian link between it
and the Cornhill in the historic town centre will be developed.
This building will incorporate a further five new shops with eight
apartments on the upper levels.
